Victoria Linehan
Victoria Linehan is a silk screen printer, etcher and painter. She trained at ‘Margaret Street’, UCE Birmingham and currently teaches at Birmingham Printmakers in the artist’s quarter of Birmingham.
Victoria uses an etching technique which does not use acids or poisonous chemicals. Her etchings are a mixture of photographic images and hand painted marks. Both color and mark-making interest Victoria and she takes inspiration from surfaces of walls, architecture and graffiti which is reflected in her current work in both prints and oils.
Victoria has always created "series" of prints. Venice, Barns of Worcestershire and the disappearing Industrial Buildings of Birmingham are subjects of her work. Victoria says: "Sadly the fast development of Digbeth (B5) means its industrial buildings will soon disappear. A loss that will be much regretted".
Victoria will exhibit her new series of oil paintings at Purple Gallery's 15th Anniversary Exhibition, which opens on Saturday 11th July 2020.
