John Currier

Artist Statement:

"I tend to be drawn to scenes of the natural world in my work, particularly landscapes and seascapes. My work is from my own references, such as holidays I have been on and walks closer to home. I photograph a lot when walking and later choose a scene that inspires me. While I enjoy drawing and watercolours, oil paint is my preferred medium – I enjoy layering the paint onto the canvas and the richness of colour. I have always been quite traditional in my work, more recently attempting to be more fluid with the medium and take advantage of the depth and texture that can be achieved with oils"
