Fresh From the Press V
OPENING: Saturday 11th May from 10 am - 6 pm
Exhibition dates: 11/5/19 - 29/6/19
This exhibition draws together both framed and unframed prints from established Purple Gallery artists and printmakers. The image featured right is a new silkscreen print entitled: Hockney's Dog - An Even Bigger Splash! by printmaker, Mychael Barratt. Mychael is a highly accomplished printmaker who creates limited edition etchings and silkscreen prints inspired by Literature, Shakespeare and Art. He continues tirelessly to add new prints each year to his Artist Cats and Dogs Series and we are pleased also to have a Banksy's Dog as part of this new print show at Purple Gallery.
Alongside Mychael's new work, we have some beautifully created collagraph prints by Vicky Oldfield and French-born Muriel Bernard. Collagraphy is a printmaking process in which materials are applied to a rigid substrate (such as cardboard, paperboard, wood or metal). The word is derived from the Greek word koll or kolla, meaning glue, and graph, meaning the activity of drawing. Collagraph plates can be cut into shapes and combined with other techniques like masking and intaglio. In this way different line qualities, tonal and textural effects, embossing and colour mixes can be achieved. Printmaking Terms>>>
Also featured in this exhibition will be four new relief prints in the 100 Views of Birmingham series, by Mike Allison. Click here to view Mike's prints available at Purple Gallery>>>
