Purple Gallery is an independent art gallery in Birmingham established in April 2005. It was founded by Colin Carruthers, a renowned painter, and his wife Jane Carruthers, who has successfully run the gallery since its inception.
In 2021, at the end of the COVID lockdown period, the gallery entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of artist Richard Russell, continuing its strong artistic vision while embracing fresh ideas.
Purple Gallery showcases a carefully curated selection of affordable, high-quality artwork, including paintings, original prints, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, and craft. Located in a vibrant community near Bournville’s famous Cadbury Factory, the gallery offers a welcoming space to discover and enjoy ART.
Brand new to the gallery is the Purple Gallery Wine Club, launched in May 2026. Hosted every other Friday 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm, this highly successful event invites visitors to socialise in great, friendly company, order from a beautifully curated menu of fine wines, and browse our latest collections. During the summer months, guests can also step outside and enjoy their refreshments in our beautiful Sculpture Garden.
To perfectly complement our artwork, the gallery also offers a professional In-house FRAMING Service and ART installation. It has built an excellent reputation for providing high-quality, bespoke framing solutions & installation, offering artists and collectors expert advice and craftsmanship.
