Crispin McNally
Crispin McNally is a fine ceramicist specializing in Nerikomi—a traditional Japanese technique where colored porcelain clays are layered and patterned so the design runs entirely through the piece. Working with Nerikomi since 2011, he combines precise preparation with geometric patterns and subtle colour harmonies embedded directly into the ceramic structure. He works primarily in porcelain, whose pure white body responds beautifully to ceramic stains, enabling a rich palette of vibrant and nuanced tones.
His award-winning work has been exhibited internationally at prestigious events, including:
-Taiwan Ceramics Biennale – Honourable Mention (2024)
-International Ceramics Festival Mino, Japan – Honourable Mention (2021)
-Faenza International Ceramic Art Competition, Italy
-Korea International Ceramic Biennale
-4th Triennial of Silicate Arts, Hungary
-UNICUM International Ceramics Triennial, Slovenia
