NOVEMBER 2024 Featured Artist: COLIN CARRUTHERS. Exhibition date: Saturday 2nd - Saturday 30th November

Anne Irby-Crews (RBSA)

Anne has had a varied career, working at Pinewood Film Studios, in theatres, as a window dresser, and for the Arts Council. She also taught for many years. She is the Honorary President and founding member of the  Birmingham Printmakers Association.

Inspired by the natural world, Anne explores ideas about appearances, or the meaning of symbols and visual messages. She produces original prints, watercolours and oils and her garden frequently features in her work.  Anne has completed a limited series of individual Alphabet prints which have so far proved popular as gifts at new births, Christmas and birthdays.   The idea for the prints started as name books for Anne’s grandchildren. The prints are all original linocuts and some are worked back into with colour which makes each print a unique piece of art.

Anne’s work has been exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy Summer Show. She has staged several one woman shows at venues such as Lichfield Cathedral. In 2009, Anne was one of three artists chosen to develop a new Metro tramway poster.
